Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How much do you sell your puppies for?
Starting January 1, 2011, our puppies are $700. Price does not change based on sex or color of the puppy. Puppies are sold as "pets" with non-breeding status, similar to AKC limited registration. This means no puppies bred from this dog will be able to be registered with the ABCA. Non-breeding status may be lifted if the buyer pays for breeding rights.

  2. How do I get breeding rights?
Breeding rights can be bought when the buyer has paid double the amount of the puppy and provided all health tests.  The dog must be two years of age, OFA hip certified as breedable (GOOD or EXCELLENT), and Optigen tested CEA NORMAL or CARRIER. If the dog is a CEA CARRIER, the buyer will agree NOT to breed to another CEA CARRIER. CEA testing does not apply if the dog is CEA NORMAL by parentage. If the dog qualifies for all of these tests, non-breeding status will be lifted from ABCA papers.

  3. How much is a deposit and how do they work?
Deposits are $100.00 USD and non-refundable. Deposits are taken on planned or upcoming litters. When a litter of puppies is born, we send out e-mails to people who have deposits on a specific litter. Litter picking is decided on the order in which people have placed their deposit on the litter.

If you cannot find a puppy that you're looking for, you're welcome to transfer your deposit to another litter or puppy that may be available. Transferring your deposit will not put you on the top of the list of another litter that already has deposits on it. You will be moved to the next open spot on the list.

  4. Do you ship? If so, how much is shipping?
We ship our puppies out of the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport (TYR) in Tyler, TX. We ship via Continental Airlines when puppies are a minimum of 8 weeks of age. The price of shipping is $300. The price includes the airline ticket, a health certificate from a certified veterinarian, and a Remington plastic puppy crate.

  5. Do you have any health guarantee?
We have a two year genetic defect guarantee on ALL of our puppies. We guarantee our puppies will be hip certified OFA GOOD or EXCELLENT. This does NOT apply to dogs that are injured to the point where it may affect their hips. We guarantee our puppies will not be affected with CEA.

Note: A dog that is a CEA CARRIER can NOT develop CEA!

  6. How long have you been breeding Border Collies?
We've been breeding Border Collies for about 20 years!

  7. May I come to your facilities and meet the dogs?
We encourage people to come look at our facilities and meet the dogs/puppy parents. We'll gladly give you a tour and allow you to play with our dogs if you'd like to. Just remember to call or e-mail us to set up a time to come out.

  8. May I see the pedigrees of the sire and dam?
Go to "Our Pack" page. Click on any picture of any dog you want to see a pedigree for. Scroll down under their information and you will find their pedigree.

  9. Do you have any references from previous puppy buyers?
Go to our "Testimonials" page and you will see many pages of testimonials and pictures of our puppies in their new homes.

  10. What age may I pick up my puppy?
Puppies can be picked up in person at 7 weeks of age when they are fully weaned.

  11. Where are your puppies raised? How are they socialized?
Our puppies are raised in whelping rooms with their mothers. Our whelping rooms are heated and air conditioned and cleaned daily. We bring our puppies in the house everyday to socialize them with different sounds. When old enough and when weather permits, we take our puppies outside to play and explore the world. Puppies are raised with many other dogs and other animals such as cats, horses, and donkeys!

  12. Do you vaccinate and deworm your puppies?
Our puppies receive their first vaccinations at 5 to 6 weeks of age. Puppies are dewormed every 2 weeks starting at 2 weeks of age on a strict schedule.

  13. What type of food do you feed your puppies?
We feed Victor Premium Dog Food for all life stages. This premium food provides high quality protein that supports suitable growth in puppies. It has DHA which is a nutrient significant for well brain and vision development.

Starting at 3 to 4 weeks of age, we introduce our puppies to puppy food. We moisten our puppy food with water when puppies first begin to eat puppy food. Gradually, we decrease the amount of water until our puppies are eating complete solid puppy food. This is usually between 6 and 8 weeks of age.
